ABOUT US
What we are:
-
We are a cooperative education program and community learning center in the heart of Prineville.
-
We are engaged in collaborative community education with learners of all ages, but we first serve youth.
What we do:
-
We engage students deeply and meaningfully in STEM education and the arts.
-
We focus on the practical application of learning in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
-
We collaborate with a wide variety of individuals, community agencies, clubs and activity programs to provide a diverse and inclusive range of activities for young people to engage in, under the guidance of mentors, coaches, teachers and leaders in Crook County.
-
We provide a cooperative model of community education with a teenage focus, in a shared space which fosters collaboration, learning and engagement in new and inspirational activities.
-
We network with existing organizations, groups and schools to reduce duplication of activities, to foster wrap-around services and ensure that that the needs of all Crook County youth are being met in a safe and healthy community of learners.
-
We offer a responsive and flexible schedule of activities and classes based on the needs of youth and families and the available skills of community partners, mentors and coaches.
-
We are drug and alcohol free and offer group support for those who are trying to make healthy decisions and might be struggling with the challenges of making lifestyle changes.
-
We welcome teen parents and offer early childhood education programs in collaboration with children’s play groups and parent support circles.
-
We welcome both teen moms and teen dads.
-
We offer meeting space and classroom space for community organizations or individuals for art classes, certification courses, meetings or other community appropriate needs.
-
We prioritize education - public, private and home-school groups - in the scheduling of spaces, honoring a multitude of ways of learning and supporting families in healthy and appropriate choices.
-
We partner with organizations who offer tutoring and homework help
-
We also support individual education pathways through MOOCs, distance education or webinars as well as internships, mentorships and apprenticeships.
-
We help young people reconnect to education opportunities.
